Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Last updated 11/9/2009
Below are some common questions regarding the Jamboree. If you have questions that aren't listed here please email your question to info@cpcjamboree.org or contact the Council Office at (503) 226-3423.
When should I sign up for Jamboree?
NOW! We are limited to 468 Boy Scouts (13 Troops X 36 Scouts per Troop). We are getting very close to being full. Once full, there will be a waiting list. To sign up please click here .
How do I pay for Jamboree?
Many parents feel that they can't afford to send their son to the National Jamboree because of cost. Attending a National Scout Jamboree is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most Scouts. Each Jamboree, Scouts have earned their ENTIRE way by fund raising. Early on, Scouts can raise money on their own. Many of the Jamboree Troops will also have fund raising opportunities as well.
Click on the Fund Raising link to view just some of the ways that Scouts are earning money to pay their way to Jamboree. There will also be a SCRIP opportunity as well. Details of that program will be announced at a later date.
Why do I have to be making payments now when the Jamboree
isn't happening until 2010?
In order for the Council to lock in prices for airfare, touring, food and lodging, and the Jamboree itself we have payments that have to be made early on. In fact payments have already been made on your behalf.
I paid my initial deposit, how can I make payments?
You can click here to make a Jamboree Payment. If you have any questions or can't remember your sign-on information please contact the council office.
How and when will Jamboree Troops be formed and when will they start meeting?
Scouts have been assigned to Troops and Troops have had their first official meeting on November 7, 2009 during the All Contingent Meeting. Scouts that are assigned first are those Scouts that are signed up and are current in their Jamboree payments. Troops will be officially meeting starting in January of 2010.
Can I go to the Jamboree with my son?
Unlike your normal troop campouts the Jamboree is restricted to 4 adults and 36 youth. The adult selection process happened last year and in fact your Jamboree leaders have been in training since November 2009. Your Jamboree Troops WILL need your help in preparing for the trip. Your Scoutmaster will be communicating those needs to you.
Are there scholarships available to help with the cost of the Jamboree?
There are a limited number of scholarships available to help with some of the cost of the Jamboree. These are based on financial need and looking at what steps the Scout has done to fundraise on their own. You must be registered in order to apply for a scholarship. For more information please email info@cpcJamboree.org .
